A LOCAL history centre is looking for old photographs celebrating previous Royal celebrations to add to its collection.

The Darlington Centre for Local Studies, based in Crown Street Library, in Darlington town centre, holds a large collection of local history items, including more than 30,000 images of the town and the surrounding area.

As the country prepares to celebrate the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee next month, the centre is looking for old photos of local events held to mark the Queen’s Silver or Golden Jubilee, or Royal Wedding street parties.

Anyone with pictures they would like to share can take them to the local studies centre, where staff will scan them in to create a digital image. The original picture will be returned.
