THE new owners of Darlington FC have announced details of how fans can put their money into the club.

Supporters have already begun transferring money from the previous Crowdcube funding system into the four supporters’ groups that will hold stakes in Darlington FC 1883 (DFC 1883).

Denis Pinnegar, interim chairman of DFC 1883, last night urged fans to move their money as soon as possible.

He said: “The supporters’ groups are telling me that people are moving their money and asking for information on how to do it.

“This money will provide us with our working capital around which we’re going to build the team and management structure.

“It’s a vital element and I would urge fans to transfer their investment very soon.”

Fans have the option of putting their money into one of four supporters’ groups – Darlington Supporters’ Club, Darlo Uncovered fans’ forum, Darlo Tykes and Darlington Away Far Travelling Supporters.

Another option would be for fans to simply donate to the club.

Alternatively, they can put their money into a new community interest company (CIC) which will also hold a stake in the club.

The CIC will be launched towards the end of June.

It is understood that a fourth option exists for fans who could invest their money directly in DFC 1883.

However, Financial Services Authority regulations prevent the club from soliciting investments directly from fans, meaning supporters would need to approach the club first.

It is hoped Darlington Supporters’ Trust will invest about £40,000 raised during a previous crisis faced by the club.

The trust elected a new board on Monday after the previous officials resigned.

A ballot of members is now expected to decide what to do with the money.

The club has delayed a decision on its new manager until after May 25, when the FA will announce which league the club will be playing in next season.
