A CONCERT is being held tonight (FRI) to raise money for a feature film which is being shot about the trials and tribulations of a Darlington FC fan.
Local blues band, The Vast Majorities, is playing at the concert at St Augustine’s Church hall, which is also raising funds for the Meningitis Trust and the Alzheimer’s Society.
Some of the funds raised will go towards a film adaptation of Paul Hodgson’s autobiography Flipper’s Side.
Mr Hodgson has already shot a trailer for the film and is hoping to travel to Cannes later this year to promote it at the annual film festival.
He has already signed up a number of actors to star in it including Mark Stobbart, from 55 Degrees North, James Baxter, from Emmerdale, Tracey Wilkinson, from Bad Girls, and Bill Fellows, from Downton Abbey.
Mr Hodgson said: “I’ve chosen those two charities to raise funds for as both meningitis and alzheimer’s feature heavily in the book.
“The fundraising for the film’s going really well we’ve got a bid in with the EU and another one in with Creative England.
“It’s quite difficult as there’s a lot more people wanting a lot less money, but we’re confident about things.”
