Ryan Bowman is in contention for a return to action due to Liam Hatch's suspension when Darlington play at Wrexham tomorrow evening.

Hatch collected his tenth booking of the season during Saturday's 2-0 win over Tamworth, resulting in an automatic two-game ban.

The 29-year-old misses tomorrow's trip to the league leaders and Saturday's home game with Forest Green Rovers, handing a return to action for Bowman.

A hamstring strain has kept him out of two games, and he has not played since November 5. He he was on the bench at the weekend and caretaker manager Craig Liddle has him in mind to face Wrexham.

He said: "I put Ryan on the bench, but I was desperate not to use him because he's just come back from a hamstring injury and I didn't want him aggravating that and leaving us without a striker.

"Luckily we managed with Ryan who is now our only fit striker for Wednesday and Saturday next week.

"We knew Liam was treading a tightrope and the suspension was going to happen eventually."

Hatch missed training at the end of last week due to illness, but still declared his availability to face Tamworth.

Liddle added: "He was struggling with flu big style, headaches and sickness he had.

"That shows you his commitment to the club that he went out and played and played as well as he did."

Bowman's return to the starting XI would create a vacancy on the bench that James Gray will hope to take.

He did not make the squad on Satutrday despite creating Dale Hopson's debut goal seven days previously at Ebbsfleet United.

As well as Bowman, also hoping for a recall is Jonatan Sanchez-Munoz. The Spaniard was a second half substitute when replacing Aaron Brown who limped off with a hamstring strain.

Liddle rates Brown at 50/50 to play at the Racecourse Ground tomorrow in a match rearranged to accommodate live coverage on Premier Sports TV.

It was Sanchez-Munoz's first appearance in six games, and Liddle added: "It's been difficult for Jonny because he hasn't been involved as much and people forget, because he's such a big lad, that he's still young.

"He's still learning the language and sometimes you can't get things across to him that you'd like, so I've had to use him sparingly, but he didn't let anyone down on Saturday.

"He's a big strong unit and is hard for players to get around. As big lad I'd like him to head the ball a little bit more than he does. But that will come."

Darlington's defence of the FA Trophy will start away to Grimsby Town.

The draw for the first round was made yesterday and sees Quakers handed a trip to Blundell Park - where they won 2-1 earlier this season.

Darlington's visit to the Mariners on December 10, who are 16th in the Blue Square Premier, will be Quakers' first Trophy game since the final at Wembley on May 7.

Mansfield Town, the team that Darlington defeated that day, travel to Droylsden while Gateshead are at home to Kettering.
