YOUNGSTERS at a Darlington to school brought literature to life by dressing as their favourite fictional characters.
Children from independent prep school Yarm at Raventhorpe became Desperate Dan, Little Red Riding Hood, Harry Potter and Hermione Granger to mark World Book Day.
Lessons were taught by The Cat in the Hat, Lion from The Wizard of Oz, Alice from Alice in Wonderland and Wilbur from Charlotte's Web.
Headteacher David Boddy came as Ratty from Wind in the Willows. He said: "The children enjoyed dressing up and bringing their favourite characters to life. World Book Day helps to emphasise the fun and enjoyment reading brings, and our parents also enjoyed a giggle as they dropped their children off for the day."
