A TRANSGENDER bus driver has donned her best pink outfit to raise money for breast cancer awareness.

Kaye Warren, 51, from Darlington, lost her mother to breast cancer three years ago and decided to do something something a little different to raise money and awareness.

Ms Warren, who had a sex change operation three years ago, said: “Anyone can get breast cancer – it does not matter if you are a man or a woman, black or white, it can effect us all.

“I might get a bit of stick from the punters, but I can handle that – I’ve been doing this for 20 years. I’m definitely tougher than I look.”

She also hopes her fundraiser will raise awareness for transgender people.

“We are not so different, and are just getting on with it like everybody else.”

To donate to Miss Warren email cjw@gayadvice.plus.com or go to Pronto’s sandwich shop, in Prebend Row, Darlington, where a bucket will be available for donations.

Meanwhile, it was a case of baabaa pink sheep for visitors to a fundraising day yesterday.

Three sheep, whose fleeces were dyed pink to mark Breast Cancer Campaign’s Wear It Pink day, were the star attraction at the event, which took place in bright pink gazebos, at McInerney Homes’ Valley Rise development, in Tow Law, County Durham.

The animals were supplied by High West House Farm, in the town, and provided fun for children and adults visiting the event.

The company’s construction team also donned bright pink highvisibility vests to mark the occasion, which raised £1,500 for the breast cancer charity.
