A MAN with one arm was injured in an unprovoked attack, a court has heard.
The man was with his girlfriend in Northgate, Darlington, on June 8 at 11.30pm, when the incident happened.
Two men walked past the pair before shouting abuse first at the woman and then the man.
The two defendants appeared at Darlington Magistrates' Court yesterday, charged with using threatening behaviour, assault, and possessing an offensive weapon.
Phillip Smith, 18, of Freemans Place, Darlington, pleaded guilty to the three charges.
He also admitted breaking an 18-month conditional discharge, given for using threatening behaviour, and a 24-month conditional discharge, given for criminal damage.
He will be sentenced at Newton Aycliffe Magistrates' Court on July 20.
A 17-year-old Middlesbrough boy denied all the charges. He will next appear at Darlington Youth Court on July 14 for a pre-trial review.
Both were given unconditional bail.
