YOUNGSTERS at a Darlington school caught World Cup fever after flying the flag during a hectic fundraising day.
Pupils at Firthmoor Primary School were flying the flag ahead of England's 2-2 draw against Sweden on Tuesday - decking the building out in bunting and St George's crosses.
They also paid £1 to dress in national strips or colours, before an afternoon It's A Knockout-style competition where they tackled an obstacle course and took part in a penalty shoot-out.
Caretaker John Boyd, who organises extra-curricular activities at the school, came up with the idea to raise funds for Sports Relief.
A total of £100 was raised for the charity.
Ann Dixon, from the school, said the pupils had enjoyed the afternoon and the weather had been good.
"We encouraged some of the less confident children to get involved with the team sports," she said.
"It was really nice to see some of the quieter ones come out of their shells."
