AN art project which examines six community groups in Darlington has opened to the public.

Commissioned by Darlington Arts Centre, Halo, by Magali Pettier, uses film, text, and photography to show how different groups use the arts.

One of the groups involved in the project - Windermere Productions - talks about its work.

The groups involved are Windermere Productions, Darlington Arts Centre R’n’B Club, Large Productions, Age Concern Darlington and Darlington Arts Centre Weaving Group.

Darlington mayor Councillor Jim Ruck and mayoress Margaret Ruck attended the opening of the exhibition, which is at Darlington Arts Centre’s free Myles Meehan gallery.

Mrs Ruck said: “We were very impressed. It was a lovely evening. It is not like an art exhibition in the traditional sense, but the artist had done a good job showcasing these groups.”

The gallery is open from 9am to 9pm, Monday to Saturday. For more details, call 01325-486555 or go to darlingtonarts.co.uk
