BOOK SIGNINGS: Ray Simpson and Andrew Wilkinson will be signing copies of their book Farewell to Feethams at the Darlington FC Club shop on Priestgate, Darlington, tomorrow (SAT) from 11am to 12noon. This will be followed by Jeff Winter signing copies of his book Whos the B****** in the Black? from 2pm to 2.45pm.

FLOWER CLUB: Darlington Flower Club held its Christmas meeting with a Faith Tea and a practice entitled Frosty Morning and entertainment from Margaret Gent. The practice results are: 1, Christina Steele; 2, Sylvia Richardson; 3, Jane Currie; 4, Ann Forde. Each member was presented with a '50 Year Book' containing narratives, anecdotes and photographs of the club's history. The next meeting will be on Wednesday, February 4, at 2pm in St Cuthbert's Church Hall in Darlington.

ROAD CLOSURE: Bull Wynd in Darlington will be closed temporarily on Sunday (Dec21) from 8am to 12noon while work is carried out at Central Hall.

WORK ENDS: Maintenance work at Hurworth Road and Teesway in Neasham is expected to be completed on Tuesday (Dec23). A two-way traffic light system has been in operation since the work started in October.

PARISH PRECEPT: Middleton St George Parish Council has agreed that it will not raise its parish precept next year. Parish council chairman Doris Jones said: "These are uncertain times for everybody at the moment. This year weve been very prudent so it would be nice if we could play a part in keeping council tax low."
