VILLAGERS will be asked for their ideas how to spend a £2,500 national prize.

Sadberge won the North of England award in the Calor Village of the Year competition earning the village £2,500.

The parish council, which coordinated the application, will ask villagers via the next newsletter for projects on which to spend the money.

One idea already suggested would be to erect electronic speed signs on roads approaching the village.

The council has agreed to spend the money by March 2010, at the end of the next financial year.

The council has also agreed to maintain its parish precept at the same rate as last year.

Chairman councillor Millie Scaife said "There is no reason to increase it. But it is not prudent to drop it."
