A SHOP manager is appealing for people in the North-East to get behind a national campaign to prevent Hiv and Aids in Africa.

Jackie Garbutt, from Darlington, is asking people to get involved with The Body Shops Get Lippy campaign, which aims to raise awareness about Aids and Hiv.

It will also raise money for the Staying Alive Foundation, who distribute money to grassroots organisations dedicated to preventing Aids and Hiv through education.

The company is selling a 5 lip-balm, of which 3.98 goes to the charity.

Ms Garbutt, manager of The Body Shop in Darlington, said: It is a really good charity and a really good cause. The lip-balm went on sale yesterday(thur) and we have already sold more than 20.

Anything which can raise awareness of such an important issue is worth supporting.
