Police event

DARLINGTON Police officers will be speaking to any residents with crime or anti-social behaviour issues in the town on Saturday, July 21. The Cuppa with a Copper event will be held in the town’s Costa Coffee from 1pm. Officers will also offer security and safety advice during the informal meeting.

Support group

THE Borrowed Angels Support Group, for those affected by miscarriage, still births and infant loss, will meet at the Elim Church on Bowman Street from 12.30pm until 2pm on Wednesday, July 18. The group offers the opportunity to meet people who have shared similar experiences. Refreshments are available.

Painting class

A ONE-day painting workshop teaching oil painting for beginners will be held on Saturday, July 28, in Darlington’s Bridge Centre for Visual Arts, off Yarm Road. Artist and tutor Jo Pickering will host the workshop, providing a variety of still-like images to work from and she will demonstrate two techniques – oil under-painting for oil painting and acrylic under-painting. The grid-drawing method will also be shown. Would-be artists must bring a 12 inch by 16 inch canvas or board, or 20 inch by 16 inch, as well as a set of oil paints, water pot, pot for oil thinners, brushes and basic drawing equipment. Tea, coffee and biscuits will be provided, but guests should bring lunch for the workshop between 10am and 4pm. Entry is £40 and the course is limited to 15 people.
