A MUSIC collective will work with a Darlington charity to raise funds for refugees stranded in Lesvos.

Darlington Assistance for Refugees will host a music and food night in conjunction with music promoters Tracks.

The event aims to raise money for Lesvos Solidarity, a Greek charity that runs an open refugee camp.

Performers will include Sonder Minds, Zarahruth and Scott Wilson, all of whom are giving their time for free in support of the cause.

DAR volunteer Martin Wood said: “It's almost three years since photos appeared in the press of Alan Kurdi, the three year old Syrian who drowned in the Mediterranean and whose body was washed ashore in Turkey, and yet the refugees continue to flee desperate situations and thousands are still stranded on the island of Lesvos.

“I hope we can fill the venue, raise a hefty sum and stand in solidarity with refugees everywhere."

The event will be held at the Voodoo Café on Saturday, July 7 from 7pm until 11pm.

Tickets are available from the venue and Guru Boutique.
