A MUCH-LOVED puppy at a rehoming centre has been given a fresh start at a care home.

Todd, a sociable Lurcher who has been looked after by Dogs Trust Darlington, has been adopted by Care UK's Hadrian Park in Stockton so he can bring joy to the residents.

The decision to adopt a dog on behalf of the care home was the brain child of Marsha Tuffin, home manager at Hadrian Park, who worked with staff at the local Dogs Trust Rehoming Centre to find the perfect candidate

Ms Tuffin said: “Many residents at Hadrian Park are living with dementia, and having a four-legged companion can bring a tremendous sense of purpose to their everyday lives.

"Todd is already an important part of the family here at Hadrian Park, residents have begun to build bonds with him – and you can see the sense of calm and comfort he gives to everyone he meets."

Sue Embleton, rehoming centre manager at Dogs Trust Darlington, said: “We are really happy for Todd as he loves human companionship and definitely won’t want for attention in his new home."
