A PRIMARY school is looking to develop links with local businesses as part of its very first World at Work Week.

Heathfield Primary School in Darlington has signed up for the event, taking place from March19, to inspire the school’s children in Years 1 to 6 and help them to find out more about different jobs and industries and what it’s like to work in them.

Headteacher Helen Tarokh said: “We are looking for local businesses to take part and to visit us all at Heathfield Primary School. Signed up so far are Teesside University, Macks Solicitors, Craft Public Relations, Wriggles and Giggles, Darlington College and Acorn Dairy, so we have a really good variety of guests. We’ve also had lots of interest from parents.

“We really want our children to have high aspirations and to try and motivate the next generation of learners and workers into finding out what interests them. Heathfield Primary offers a varied and creative curriculum which we hope engages our children and increases their desire to learn, both educationally and about the world around them.”

Heathfield Primary School is part of Lingfield Education Trust, a multi-academy trust which is based in Darlington and has six schools throughout the area.
