THE canine carers of a puppy found straying the streets are hoping to find shy and sensitive Harper a home in time for his first birthday.

The Staffordshire Bull Terrier was taken in to Dogs Trust Darlington in January and needs a new owner to give him enough space to reveal his playful personality.

A Dogs Trust spokesman said: “The recent spell of bad weather may not have suited everyone but Harper has just revelled in it.

“He has loved playing in the snow with his canine carers and has had a great time dashing around and generally having lots of fun.

“Harper enjoys training and is learning to keep all four paws on the floor and is improving his doggy skills and manners.

“Harper is definitely a project and a dedicated owner will find it very rewarding to be part of his journey.

"Underneath he's an adorable barrel of fun and with the correct training will be a pleasure and a fun addition to the home. At this point Harper will need to be the only pet in an adult-only home."
