SPECTATORS are invited to enjoy a celebration of music, drama and speech next month.

The Darlington Festival for Performing Arts will return in March with two days of entertainment from scores of performers.

Founded in 1931, the festival is split into three disciplines and aims to showcase talent in music, dance, speech and drama.

On Saturday, March 3, the music element of the festival will be staged at Longfield Academy, followed by the speech and drama event on Saturday, March 10.

The part of the festival devoted to dance will follow in October.

Secretary Ann Clark said: “We’ve had a lot of interest this year and an increase in entries and are all looking forward to the event, it's coming together really well.

“Spectators are more than welcome to come along and I’m sure they will enjoy seeing all of the competitors, who are of all ages, from very little ones upwards.”

The music event begins at 9.30am and run until around 9pm, with speech and drama from 9.15am until around 5pm. Visit dfpa.co.
