CHILDREN at Red Hall Primary School were left inspired after teachers staged a galactic meteor crash in the school’s woodland.

The scene saw thick smoke disguising the crash cordoned off by yellow police tape which was investigated by staff, some of which were dressed in white suits and surgical masks playing forensic scientists.

Police also attended the school, warning the children of the dangers found in the woodland. One of the police officers asked for anyone with information on the extra-terrestrial body to come forward.

A pupil who was in on the act said: “My mum said she heard something last night near the school. I looked outside and I could see little balls of fire.”

Miss Snowdon the assistant head of the school who ran the activity said: “We have done this today to really inspire the children in their writing as sometimes they lack ideas. We are hoping this develops their imagination and give them something to write about.

“The reason we choose the meteor was because it links with our year five and six topics. The children are learning about star gazing and we wanted to keep the activity closely linked.

“I think this topic is also quite real for them because of the meteor showers that happened over Christmas which they saw in the news.”
