CANINE carers looking after a sensitive dog with a hidden cheeky side are hoping to find him a new home for the new year.

Domino, a lurcher aged between two and five-years-old, is being cared for by staff at Dog's Trust Darlington's Sadberge site, where he enjoys cuddles and playing with staff members he knows.

A spokesman for Dog's Trust Darlington said: "Domino gets on with most dogs though he prefers them not to be too bouncy.

"Domino does have a sensitive side and is going to need some training and gentle socialisation in his new home.

"His new owners will need to be very patient with him and let him settle in at his own pace.

"Domino may possibly live with a quiet lady dog, but he does need an adult only home, where he can come out of his shell.

"Domino is rather too interested in small furry animals, so care will need to be taken when around these."

Staff members have recommended the lurcher would benefit from walking buddies to continue his training.

The charity spokesman added: "Once 'spotted' we think this fab boy will have a queue of people 'knocking' to meet him."
