YOUNG children are invited to enjoy a fun session in a railway museum.

Every Friday is now Play Friday for Station Scamps at Head of Steam – Darlington Railway Museum.

Children under three, and their grown-ups, are invited to stay and play at the museum, between 11am and 12.30pm.

There will also be a special Explorer Friday, on the third Friday of every month, which will include a host of exciting activities.

Visitors will be able to enjoy a range of activities such as songs, stories and making – sometimes it will be messy activities such as painting and printing, or building things.

Sarah Gouldsbrough, learning and access officer at Head of Steam, said: “As well as being a great way to meet new friends and play, there are activities around the museum with our staff, such as a chance to ‘buy’ a ticket in the ticket office and get hands-on with some of our railway items of the past.”

The next session will be on Friday, November 17 at the museum at North Road Station.

Play Fridays are free to Museum family annual pass holders and snacks and drinks are also provided for the children.

Price for non-members is £2 per session. No need to book.
