SCOUTS from a Darlington troop will join thousands of other youngsters from across the world next weekend.
The 5th Darlington Scouts will attend the World Jamboree, being held at Walsbury Forest, near Nottingham.
It is one of several jamborees attended by thousands of Scouts across the globe.
They will be the only Scout troop from Darlington to attend the event next Saturday.
They earned a grant through the Big Lottery Fund to attend the event. Their party will include 16 boys, aged 11 to 15, and four Scout leaders.
Laurie Burgess, troop treasurer, said: "This is the first time we have been to a jamboree experience. There will be Scouts from across the world there."
Events include canoeing, climbing, sailing, archery, crafts, crazy golf, rifle shooting, gymnastics, computing and amateur radio.
