A LITTLE boy living in the hope of receiving life-changing surgery to allow to take his first steps unaided has been given a £1,300 boost on his fundraising journey.
The parents of three-year-old Emil Mason, from Darlington, are raising £40,000 to cover the costs of an operation to help their child overcome cerebral palsy.
He is currently unable to stand or walk unaided and requires a walker to move around independently.
However, a coffee morning held in Middleton St George over the weekend saw hundreds of residents donate towards the fund in a bid to move Emil closer towards his goal.
A bake sale, tombola and raffle raised more than £1,300 within two hours in Middleton St George's Community Centre on Saturday morning.
