A FARM-BASED children’s nursery will stage its latest fundraising event in aid of a local hospice charity this weekend.

High Bank Day Nursery in Stapleton, in North Yorkshire near Darlington, is holding a summer fayre and open day on Saturday, July 22, from 11am to 2pm.

There will be a barbecue, stalls, raffle, children’s sports and competitions, including fancy dress and a vegetable competition.

The open day will also give parents who may be thinking of sending their child to High Bank an opportunity to look around the nursery.

All the money raised on the day will go to High Bank’s charity of the year, Herriot Hospice Homecare.

High Bank Day Nursery Manager Hayley Grainger said: “Our first two events, a Christmas fair and an afternoon tea, raised £1,800, so we are hoping to pass the £2,000 mark after Saturday’s event.

“There will be lots to do for the whole family and it will also give people the opportunity to see our new farm area, which we are all very excited about.”
