A DARLINGTON man who is an electrician by day and a Brazilian Jiu Jitsu fighter by night has just won a national title.
David Moore, who owns Connect Electrical Services, fought his way to a British title in Coventry as part of Redcar-based Team Lagarto Teesside.
He said: “I have been doing Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (BJJ) for more than eight years and have competed at many tournaments over the past few years. I train at Redcar BJJ Club under Shaun Mathews, himself a multiple British Champion, and we have one of the country’s most successful teams.
“I have made numerous attempts to become British Champion – coming close last year and getting silver but last weekend took gold at the Coventry Skydome where I won the master Purple Belt middleweight title after beating European No1 ranked Purple Belt – Tyrone Husbands, who had defeated me six months prior to this bout on another big show.
“This was huge victory for myself and my team.”
