THE striking looks of a former stray being cared for in kennels have caught the attention of canine carers dubbing him a rehoming centre “celebrity”.

Fester, a one-year-old Boxer, was abandoned and left to roam the streets as a stray before being recently taken in at Dogs Trust Darlington where he has been turning heads with his distinctive features ever since.

As well as having one remarkably light blue eye and one dark brown eye, Fester was born with a narrow jaw to give him his unique appearance – and none of his unusual traits have any implications on his health.

Staff at the Sadberge-based rehoming centre are hoping to find a home for the notorious fun and food lover who enjoys the company of other people over dogs.

Sue Embleton, rehoming centre manager at Dogs Trust Darlington, said: “Fester is a gorgeous boy with an amazing character, so we can’t imagine why anyone wouldn’t want him as part of their family.

“Fester loves being around people and much prefers human companionship than that of other dogs.

“We definitely believe he would benefit from an adult-only home, with no other pets, so he can soak up all the attention for himself.

“At meal times, Fester can get carried away as he loves his food and has a tendency to forget his manners, so a little training will also be required.”

The centre is open from Friday until Tuesday, between noon and 4pm, and between noon and 7.30pm on Thursdays.
