A TOWN centre building that last housed an ill-fated live music venue is going up for auction.

Situated on the corner of Duke Street in Darlington, the former Green Room Bar and Venue has a guide price of £275,000 and will provide buyers with the opportunity for renovation into flats and retail units.

The Green Room opened in 2015 and vowed to bring quality music acts to Darlington, but after suffering financial difficulties it shut within six months.

Now the building is to be auctioned online auction on October 5 and 6 and Richard Reed, head of John Pye Property Auction said it was a “great opportunity” to invest.

He added: “We are estimating that if the property was to be renovated and converted into a retail space on the ground floor, with flats on the first floor, this could bring in a development value of £850,000.”

The building will be auctioned at johnpye.co.uk/property-auctions
