A PUNK rock night is set to add thousands of pounds to a £10,000 total already raised through an alternative annual fundraiser.

Cancer survivor and event organiser, Brian Alderson, has staged a gig in Darlington for the past three years in a bid to find donations for Macmillan Cancer Support.

Mr Alderson was diagnosed with cancer in 2012 before going into remission after receiving chemotherapy, surgery and radiotherapy as part of his treatment.

And now he hopes to give something back to the cancer charity that supported him through his bowel and lymph cancer treatments.

Eleven different bands from across the UK will descend on Darlington’s Forum Music Centre venue on Saturday, September 24, in aid of the charity for a range of punk rock performances.

Mr Alderson said: “After what they helped me with, we decided to help them back and so far we’ve raised £10,000 with other nights for skin heads.

“We have bands coming from all over and I hope plenty of people will get involved all over again.”

Auctions and raffles also organised by Mr Alderson and held in several venues across Darlington have added to the fundraiser total.

Tickets for the Punk and Oi Charity Bash Part Three on Saturday from 12pm are £15 and will feature performances from Bristol-based bands, as well as groups from Stoke-on-Trent, and Scotland with Control set to headline the event.
