MORE than two decades of competition for keen Darlington golfers has raised more than £75,000 for a charities in need.
This year’s Darlington Rotary Club AM-AM Golf tournament was another successful fundraising event for the group, which added £4,080 to the total.
St Teresa’s Hospice was named as this year’s recipients of the cheque and Darlington Rotary Club President Chris Wiper presented hospice representative, Alasdair MacConachie, with the sum.
The pair were joined by long-running competition organiser and fellow Rotarian, Derek Alderson, who has planned the popular golf tournament for the past 21 years.
A Darlington Rotary Club spokesman said: “This very popular competition has raised over £75,000 since it started.
“All of which has all been donated by Darlington Rotary Club to local charitable causes and will be held again next year on Thursday, July 13 at the Blackwell Grange Golf Club.”
