HIGH-ACHIEVING pupils from Carmel College have been recognised for their academic endeavours and commitment to hard work.

The Northern Echo’s editor Peter Barron compered a year 11 presentation evening at the college where pupils received their GCSE certificates and a small gift as a token of appreciation for all their efforts.

A commendable 82 per cent of pupils at the Darlington college achieved A* to C grades, including in English and maths, placing Carmel as one of the top performing colleges in the North-East.

Maura Regan CEO of Carmel Education Trust addressed the students, challenging them to continue their journeys and encouraging them to be the very best they could be.

There were also a number of special awards handed out on the evening including the Lindsey Carmel White Memorial Shield which was awarded to Natalia Zurawska in recognition of her tireless effort and dedication in all areas.
