YOUNGSTERS enjoyed Alice in Wonderland themed tea parties to celebrate 150 years of the classic book.

Children and their parents joined the Queen of Hearts and the Mad Hatter at Darlington’s Crown Street Library today (Friday, August 21) for stories, games and refreshments provided by the Mad Hatter Tea Company.

The event was part of the Darlington Summer Libraries Activity Programme, which began last month and will run until the end of the summer holidays, with events held at Crown Street Library and Cockerton Library.

Other activities will include visits by the Move More team, storyteller sessions, Silverband mammal show, craft sessions, Barnardo’s Big Toddle, multi-sensory storytelling, and Groundworks play sessions.

Many sessions are free, although there is a charge for some. Places are limited and allocated on a first come first served basis.
