EXTENSIVE resurfacing work on the diversion route used during the A67’s partial closure has finished ahead of schedule.

The A67 at Carlbury, near Darlington, reopened in May following a £4.3 million project to repair the road after a landslip was detected in early 2013.

The work was completed under budget and Darlington Borough Council used the remaining cash to resurface the B6275 Roman Road and the B6279 Staindrop Road that made up the diversion route.

A Darlington Council spokesman confirmed that this work is now complete and both roads are fully open to traffic, meaning that all the works linked back to the Carlbury landslip are finished.
