A TEAM of cyclists is getting in the saddle to tackle the mammoth 874-mile journey from Lands End to John o' Groats.
The group of students, from Hummersknott Cycling Club, in Darlington, range in age from 12 to 18-years-old and have been training for the epic ride for the last two years.
Ride leader Geoff Chapman is confident they will complete the route within 14 days, plus one rest day, and said he was pleased with the commitment to training that the group has shown.
He said: “Our main aim is to create a culture within the kids to be active and committed to taking part in regular exercise and our secondary aim is to try and raise a bit of money for charity.”
The team is raising money for St Teresa’s Hospice, in Darlington, and the Army Benevolent Fund.
They will set off on their journey on July 19 and you can support their efforts by searching for the club at justgiving.com
