DARLINGTON’S night life is set to welcome back one of its most prominent girls' nights out – as female fundraisers take to the moonlight to raise money for charity.

The annual St Teresa’s Hospice Midnight Walk returns to Darlington on Friday, June 19, with hundreds of women from the region expected to take part in the female-only event.

This year will mark the eighth hosting of the event, which will see walkers march along a 1.5-mile or three-mile route in Darlington’s South Park to raise money for St Teresa’s Hospice.

To assist their efforts, everyone who enters will receive a goody bag of flashing devices, as well as a breakfast bun afterwards, ensuring that those who take part light up the night sky in the name of charity.

Since the event’s conception in 2008 it has become an annual favourite in the town, raising more than £100,000 for the charity in the process.

Both individual and team entrants are welcome, while registration costs £10 – everyone who enters is asked to try and raise as much sponsorship money as possible for the charity.

Karen Hornsby, manager of RBS bank Darlington, which is entering a team, said: “All the team are very excited to be taking part in the Midnight Walk.

“Registering online made it so easy to sign-up, and we’re looking forward to having a great night and helping to raise the profile of the hospice once again.”

To enter, complete a registration form available from the hospice and its charity shops, or visit the Hospice website at darlingtonhospice.co.uk to register online before June 12.
