THE latest production by Darlington Operatic Society has proved a real hair-raiser for charity.
Hairspray ended its 11-night run at Darlington Civic Theatre with a standing ovation on Saturday night.
A collection was held each night for St Teresa's Hospice and Peter Barron, editor of The Northern Echo and operatic society president, handed over a cheque for £2,430 at the interval of the final performance.
Mr Barron said: "Darlington Operatic Society goes from strength to strength with every show.
"Hairspray was fun-packed, feelgood and fabulous – and I'm so proud it has also raised a lot of money for a fantastic charity."
