BUSINESSES, schools and community groups in Darlington are being urged to get cracking and creative this Easter.

This year, BID company Distinct Darlington is calling on organisations and school pupils in the area to take part in its annual Easter Egg trail.

They would like as many as possible to create eggs, which can then be ‘hidden’ in shops throughout the town centre for children to find on Good Friday and Easter Saturday.

The eggs, which must be around A4 size, can be made of any material, be either two or three dimensional and must be able to withstand all weathers.

They will then be put in place for the two, one-day egg hunts, which will begin and end at the Joseph Pease Monument in the High Row area of the town between 11am and 4pm each day.

Alex Hirst, manager of Distinct Darlington, said: “The eggs can be made of absolutely anything but the more creative the better.

“Last year we had eggs made and decorated with everything from papier-mâché and tissue paper to sequins and feathers and lots of companies incorporated their company logo and colours to great effect.

“This is a chance for schools and groups to represent who they are and get their creative juices flowing.”

Anyone who would like to create an egg for the trail is asked to contact Distinct Darlington by tomorrow (Friday, March 13) and all eggs must be either handed in to its office at 2 Chancery Lane, DL1 5QP, or collection arranged by March 27.
