POLICE are hunting a would-be intruder that targeted a Darlington property in broad daylight yesterday (Thursday, February 12).
A man living on Chandos Street was disturbed at around 12.30pm by repeated knocking on his front and back doors.
As he came downstairs, the back door burst open and he was forced to challenge a man who ran out of the yard and into the passenger seat of a waiting silver car - similar in appearance to a Ford Fiesta - which was driven towards Brinkburn Road.
Police are now appealing for information and attempting to track the suspect, who was wearing a black hat with ear flaps and a light blue sports jacket.
The resident claims knocking was also heard at his door around the same time on Wednesday, February 11.
Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call DC 2496 Stewart Walker at Darlington CID on non-emergency number 101 quoting incident number dhm-12022015-0160.
