NORTHERN Echo editor Peter Barron did his bit for National Storytelling Week by entertaining youngsters with a book reading.
Mr Barron visited Darlington Central Library to read from his book Black Toothed Ruth Black as part of a programme of events at venues across the region to mark National Storytelling Week.
He was joined by illustrator Paul Wick who hosted an art session for the children and worked with them on how to create literary characters.
Mr Barron, whose next book Daydreaming Daisy McCloud is due out in the spring, described the event as “great fun”.
Venues across the North East and North Yorkshire will be hosting literary-themed events throughout the week as part of a national campaign to promote reading and storytelling.
Further events in Darlington libraries include story time at Cockerton on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons and a Harry Potter themed event at Crown Street Library on Thursday from 3pm to 4.30pm.
