VISIONS of one of Europe's most iconic landmarks were brought to a Darlington classroom by students celebrating foreign languages.
Year 7 French students at Hummersknott Academy were challenged to create miniature Eiffel Towers to celebrate the European Day of Languages.
The pupils, who started at the school last month, created the diminutive landmarks from a range of materials, including cardboard, Lego, fairy lights and cupcakes, with the wining students receiving shopping vouchers.
Debbie Wells, faculty leader for modern foreign languages, said: “We take every opportunity to encourage our students to gain a greater understanding and appreciation of other cultures in a fun and interesting way.
“The students worked extremely hard in their own time and produced some impressive structures.”
Students also wore international costumes to school on Friday to celebrate the European Day of Languages, raising £1,038 for the Pearl of Africa children’s choir which visited the school last week.
