VOTING for the revitalised Darlington in Bloom is underway to find the town’s best outside space.
The annual competition was put at risk earlier this summer after the volunteer organisers struggled to get enough entries but Darlington Borough Council stepped in to keep the event going in reduced form.
Gardeners from across the borough of Darlington have submitted pictures of their gardens in all their summer glory, which will now be put to the public vote on the council’s Facebook page.
The garden which receives the most ‘likes’ in each of the five categories – individual garden; alternative garden; yard; business and community garden – will win vouchers to spend on next year’s blooms.
Voting will close on Wednesday, September 10 – each of the catergories can be found at facebook.com/darlingtonboroughcouncil
People will also be able to vote in person at Darlington’s Crown Street Library from Monday.
A council spokeswoman said: “The vote opened this morning and already we’ve had lots of votes, lots of sharing and lots of positive comments about people’s gardens which is great – it’s lovely to see so many people getting involved.”
