CHILDREN from churches across Darlington are making sure that the start of their summer holiday truly rocks.
Bondgate Methodist Church is hosting a big holiday club incorporating children from both St Andrew’s and Elim churches for the first time this summer.
The week-long Seaside Rock Holiday Club has attracted 90 youngsters from the three churches between the ages of five and 11. who are enjoying a week of fun activities from quizzes to aerobics and water games.
Morvyn Sanderson, children and young people worker for the Methodist church, said: “They are having a ball.
“It is going really well, we’ve got lots of really good volunteers and the children are split into their own different ‘rock pool’ groups to make it more manageable.
“They are having a fantastic time.”
The children are also learning bible stories with a focus on Jesus’ disciple St Peter and the week will culminate in a celebratory service at the churches on Sunday at 10.30am, to which all are invited.
