Darlington Garden Club will host a meeting at the Bondgate Methodist Church Hall on Wednesday November 13. The event, which takes place from 7.30pm, will feature a speech by bee keeper and honey-maker Peter Shollick. Entry is £2 for members and £2.50 for non-members.
RETIRED TEACHERS The Darlington Retired Teachers group will meet on Wednesday November 13 at the Harroway Room, Elm Ridge Methodist Church. The meeting will begin at 2pm and will include a presentation entitled Raby Castle Throughout the ages. Visitors welcome. For more information, call 01325 353367.
COFFEE MORNING St Andrews Church in Haughton-le-Skerne will hold a coffee morning with a cake stall, raffle and bric-a-brac stall from 10am until 11.30am on Saturday November 16. There will also be a Christmas Fayre at the church on Saturday November 23 between 11am and 3pm.
FILM CLUB Darlington Film Club will show an adaptation of Teesside author Pat Barker’s novel Regeneration on Monday November 11. The showing will begin at 8pm. Entry is £3 and includes popcorn.
DOORSTEP WALKS Age UK Darlington is hosting doorstep walks throughout the winter. A 5.5 mile walk around Barmpton and Skerne Valley, starting from the supermarket carpark on Whinfield Road will take place on Monday November 11 and a circular one-mile walk around Piercebridge is arranged to set out from the village green on Monday December 9. The walks will be led by Derek Lindsay. Boots or trainers are recommended and waterproofs advised. Walkers should meet at 10.30am for a 10.45am start.
