POLICE APPEAL: Witnesses to an assault that left a 27-year-old man with a fractured jaw have been asked to contact police. The man was assaulted in Harvey’s Bar, in Houndgate, Darlington, at about 2am on Saturday, September 21. It is thought that a number of people in the bar may have witnessed the unprovoked assault. Anyone with information is asked to contact PC 2469 Walker at Darlington Police on the 101, non-emergency number.

WINTER NIGHTS: Darlington Police have launched a Winter Nights campaign to encourage people to secure their homes and stop opportunist thieves stealing property. Officers advise the use of timers to switch on the lights around the home as it gets dark and exterior lights to the front and rear of properties. A number of advice roadshows will be held around the town, starting with a stall at Wilkinson’s, in the town centre, between 11am and 2pm tomorrow (Wednesday, October 2).

COMPUTER HELP: Age UK Darlington will run a drop-in session about computers and IT for those who would like to learn more and improve their confidence. The event will take place at Wesley Court, off Yarm Road, in Darlington, onThursday, October 3, between 10.30am and noon. Entry is free.
