RESIDENTS left isolated by a landslip will be able to access vital services again from tomorrow (Wednesday April 3).

The indefinite closure of the busy A67 road and footpath between High Coniscliffe and Piercebridge following a landslip at Low Carlbury meant many residents could not reach shops and public transport.

A minibus organised by Darlington Borough Council will take to the road tomorrow to help the residents left stranded by the landslip.

The temporary shuttle bus service, operated by 1a/b taxis will travel regularly from High Coniscliffe to Darlington town centre while the road closure is in place.

Councillor David Lyonette, Darlington Borough Council’s cabinet member for transport said: “This has been a difficult time for all road users in the area. In particular, local residents who do not have private transport have been affected by the temporary withdrawal of bus services. We have listened to these concerns and put in place this temporary measure to help local residents.”

The minibus will be picking passengers up from High Coniscliffe following the route of the 75/76 to the town centre. Journeys will depart High Coniscliffe at 07.45, 08.15, 08.45, 12.00, 12.30, 17.00 and 17.30 with return journeys from the town centre stopping at Stand N on Houndgate, at 08.00, 08.30, 11.45, 12.15, 16.45 and 17.15. It is anticipated that the service will be in place for about four weeks.
