CHOCOLATE THEFT A Darlington man pleaded guilty to stealing chocolate at Darlington Magistrate’s Court today (Tuesday April 2). Ryan Campbell, of Hilda Street, admitted stealing chocolate worth £7.96 from Sainsbury’s in Darlington on Friday March 22. The 27-year-old was caught by shop staff with the chocolate hidden in his jacket. Magistrates gave him a 12 month conditional discharge and ordered him to pay £40 costs and a £15 victim surcharge.
SHOP THEFTS Magistrates handed down a six month community order to a woman who stole clothes and toys worth more than £100 from shops in Darlington. On Friday March 22, Barbara Cheryl Taylor, 34, was caught by security staff with £75 worth of clothes taken from Millets and £49.95 of toys stolen from Argos in her bags. She pleaded guilty to two counts of theft from a shop during a hearing at Darlington Magistrate’s Court today (Tuesday April 2).
