OPEN DAYS: The Tees Cottage Pumping Station, in Coniscliffe Road, Darlington, has announced its open day dates for 2013. The station houses a coal-fired, steam-driven beam engine which once pumped water to the entire Tees Valley. Open days will be held on Easter weekend March 31 and April 1, then on May 18 and 19, June 22 and 23. Admission costs £4.50 for adults, £3.50 concessions, £2.50 for children and £13 for a family ticked. Open days will be held on September 14 and 15 as part of a series of heritage events. Admission to this event will be free, although the engines on site will not be running.

PARK PLAYS: Darlington Green Theatre will perform A Midsummer Night’s Dream as part of its Shakespeare in the Park programme this summer.
