A TEENAGE boy was taken to hospital in a critical condition after taking drugs in Sunderland on Wednesday night.

"At 8.55pm tonight officers received a report from the ambulance service that a teenage boy had been taken to hospital after suffering an adverse reaction to a substance that he had taken," a spokesman for Northumbria Police said.

"He was picked up from the Woodhurst Grove area of the city and it is believed he had been taking LSD and NPS with a group of friends in the area.

"The 14-year-old boy is currently in hospital in a critical condition and police are urging anyone who might have taken the same substances to get to a hospital and seek medical attention immediately."
