NHS bosses are asking people to make giving blood their New Year’s resolution.
Leaders of NHS Blood and Transplant say every donation could save up to three lives.
Donna Batty, from the service, said: “The beginning of the year is a great time to make changes to your lifestyle and it’s the perfect time to give blood.
“This year, make a resolution you will want to keep and help us save lives at the same time.”
The service particularly needs donations of the universal blood group O Rh Negative and rarer blood groups A Rh Negative, B Rh Negative and AB Rh Negative.
