PROFESSIONALS working with prisoners and ex-prisoners to cut reoffending will be honoured at an annual awards scheme.

The 13th annual Nepacs Awards will be presented by Bishop of Durham, the Right Rev Paul Butler, in a ceremony at Lumley Castle, near Chester-le-Street in September.

The awards recognise innovative work taking place by individuals or teams across the North East working to help offenders resettle in the community and rebuild their lives.

Charity chief executive Helen Attewell said: “Nepacs awards are a way of paying tribute to the resilience and determination of staff and volunteers working within the criminal justice system”.
