TWO vandals who damaged walls at a young people's centre did so “because they were bored,” a court heard today.
Jason Andrew Bolingbroke, 22, and Bethany Ruby Carr, 18, both pleaded guilty to a charge of criminal damage at Newton Aycliffe Magistrates Court.
Alan Davison, prosecuting, said the pair entered an unsecure building belonging to Aycliffe Young People’s Centre on the evening of Sunday, August 22, before painting their names on the wall.
Calum Terry, mitigating, said: “They are homeless in every sense of the word. They were looking for somewhere to stay and did something stupid. They spotted the paint and used it because they were bored.
“They have fully admitted the offence.”
Bolingbroke and Carr were both given a six month conditional discharge.
